Australia's Wine Industry

Australia has earned a reputation for upscale boutique wines sold for reasonable prices. The Australian wine market has been expanding rapidly, and high quality vintage Australian wines are more popular than ever. The vines that produce these high quality Australian wines can sometimes be as old as 200 years.

Australia produces a wide range of wine styles, thanks to its size and the different climates and soil types. These styles range from full-bodied red wines and deep, fruity white wines all the way to sparkling, dessert styles. Popular Aussie wines feature on the shelves of supermarkets and wine shops in over 75 countries around the world.

In 2005 Australia was ranked sixth on the world wine producers list, producing 1.4 million liters of wine. The country has for years been one of the top 10 global wine producers.
